The City of Richland Center is very excited that it has been awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the development of the “Pine River Trails”. The grant award is in the amount of $94,100 under the Recreational Trails Act (RTA) Program.
The grant consists of installing all-access canoe/kayak landings as well as one all-access fishing pier along the Pine River within the City limits. Access to existing landings will be improved by adding steps and hand rails.
Primitive camping sites will be created as well as electrical service for other camping sites in three different locations.
A shelter will be constructed at the Seminary Street/old Community Center location. Fundraising is being done by the Richland Center High School Class of 1968.
A Mountain Bike/Hiking/Snow Shoeing trail is being constructed on City property overlooking the southern portion of the City.
The existing bike/hiking/walking trail will be paved from Bohmann Drive to County Hwy O.
Signage will be added along the projects for education, fitness and directions.
The Grant requires public participation and financial contributions. If you are interested and as excited as we are for these projects, please check the websites above! Also, if you would like to get involved, here is our informational packet about the project and how to do just that!
